Athletics

At St. John's-Ravenscourt School, our Athletic Program embodies the core principles of our mission and vision: fostering excellence, character, and leadership. Grounded in a commitment to follow the Canadian Sport for Life Long-Term Athlete Development Plan, we believe that participation in athletics is a vital part of developing well-rounded individuals. Through our three-season athletic calendar, students have the opportunity to challenge themselves physically, cultivate teamwork, and build resilience, all while upholding the values of integrity, perseverance, and mutual respect. Whether competing at a high level or participating for the joy of the game, students are encouraged to pursue personal growth and contribute to the vibrant spirit of our school community.

Our diverse program offers a wide range of sports to meet the interests and aspirations of all students in all three school divisions: Junior School, Middle School, and Senior School. With each athletic season, we aim to inspire students to embrace challenges, set goals, and celebrate their achievements, big and small. By providing opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and sportsmanship, we empower students to excel both on and off the field, court, or ice, embodying the values that make SJR a place of learning, growth, and shared success.

St. John’s-Ravenscourt School was founded in 1820 principally to serve the children of the Selkirk settlers. By 1834 there were forty students, evenly split between boys and girls. SJR has inevitably grown and changed over the years since, though its success throughout has been unimpeachable. Today the programs are as strong as our reputation. A strong academic program is paired with an equally strong attention to the values of stewardship, ethical leadership, and excellence in all areas of academic, social and athletic life.
