St. John's-Ravenscourt School Named One of Manitoba's Top Employers (2023)

We are proud to announce that St. John's-Ravenscourt School was named one of Manitoba's Top Employers for 2023. The annual competition reviews employers to identify the best workplaces for job-seekers and to provide a guideline of best practices for employers. We are grateful to be among the top places to work in Manitoba and strive to continue to provide support for our employees that provide the greatest educational experience for our students.

The staff editors of Mediacorp Canada Inc. listed the below as some of the reasons why we were selected as one of Manitoba's Top Employers (2023):
  • Located on a 23-acre campus on the Red River, employees at St. John's-Ravenscourt School have plenty of options to stay active, with access to a fitness centre (with trained staff), three gymnasiums, a movement studio, winter equipment such as cross-country skis and snowshoes available to borrow, a weekly staff hockey night during the October to April months and informal walking groups to join
  • St. John's-Ravenscourt School supports new moms with maternity and parental leave top-up payments (to 90 percent of salary for 27 weeks) and also offers parental leave top-up payments for new dads and adoptive parents (to 90 percent of salary for 10 weeks) -- employees may also extend their leave into an unpaid leave of absence
  • As part of their health benefits plan, St. John's-Ravenscourt School employees have access to generous mental health practitioner coverage, up to $1,200 annually
Back
St. John’s-Ravenscourt School was founded in 1820 principally to serve the children of the Selkirk settlers. By 1834 there were forty students, evenly split between boys and girls. SJR has inevitably grown and changed over the years since, though its success throughout has been unimpeachable. We have graduated 18 Rhodes scholars, for example, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II granted patronage and established a scholarship in her name in 1981. Today the programs are as strong as our reputation. A strong academic program is paired with an equally strong attention to the values of stewardship, ethical leadership, and excellence in all areas of academic, social and athletic life.
