Award-Winning Author Brings Student Ideas to Life

Students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 enjoyed an energetic presentation this week from author Marianne Dubuc in Junior School's Rosenberg Library. Marianne shared her picture books with the students, who loved learning about the inspirations for many of the pictures. Most of Marianne's books are available in both English and French, and many have been translated into other languages as well.
This Canadian author is the recipient of numerous awards for her work. She began a career in children's literature in 2006, following studies in graphic design. As both author and illustrator, she has been successful in Canada and abroad.
Students had a great deal of fun watching Marianne create original drawings from the ideas they provided. Staff commented on her good humour and engagement, as well as her patience and interest interacting with the students. "The Grade 1s reflected that they really enjoyed watching her read her stories," said Ms. Sciberras, "She illustrated the ideas they had thought of, which they thought was SO cool! They are very excited to get the pictures printed for colouring!"
Big thanks to Marianne for coming to visit the Junior School students and providing such an enjoyable learning experience.
